Big Hole River 449 cfs—Maidenrock
For the most part the dam which has been there for almost 100 years, the dam which has claimed several lives, the dam which has impeded fish migration is pretty much gone. The crews have for the past few days been hammerin on it pretty hard. You will see in the pics it is pretty much gone and good on it. The contractor has been working 6 days a week. Right now it all looks like a big mess but the end product will be a good one.
Top water action remains the way to go on this river. A couple guides told me they tried nymphs during the heat of the day and no action on them at all—-gee that’s too bad. Tricos, spruce moths, hoppers, mayfly’s—-what more do you want?
