Snow has been flying almost daily, and temperatures haven’t reached 50 degrees for a few days. What does that
mean for us? Well summer is over, the brown trout are in their spawning season, and we are preparing to close up the 2017 season. The Fly Shop will close for the winter on October 27. To celebrate, we are going to be selling flies for 35% off, and all other in-store goods for 25% off. Stop by to see us, the wood stove is cranking!
Fishing reports from the last few days have varied. The water temperatures above Divide are cold (barely reaching 41 degrees). October Caddis are still out, but the fish have been slow to rise to them. Lightning bugs (silver and pearl), small prince nymphs (#18) have been working OK underneath. If you are wanting to throw streamers, try #6 Sparkle Minnow (Smoke), Hare Fry, Black/Yellow Wooly Bugger (#6).
The Big Hole Valley is in its full fall glory. Enjoy while we can for the next couple of weeks, winter and elk season will be here before you know it!
